I hope everyone is feeling very loved today — Happy Valentine’s Day! Every year I try to send out Valentine cards to some close friends and family. This year I decided to have a little fun. I crafted these cards out of basal wood and painted on a large heart with chalkboard paint (an absolutely genius invention). Chalked messages, like “XOXO” and “Happy Valentine’s Day” can be easily erased and hopefully the cards can be reused.
On the back, Husband and I shared some of the things that we have learned about love through our marriage and other relationships this last year.
1. True love keeps no record of wrongs. This is easier to do for some, harder for others.
2. In-the-moment honesty is the language of intimacy and love.
3. A love rooted in Christ is the only love worth giving.
We attached the note with washi tape, so it can easily be removed. You can’t really tell, but I also made my own envelopes from pink craft wrapping paper using a Paper Source envelope-turned-template. I found some old love/wedding themed stamps and sent them on their way.
I am really happy with how they turned out, but they were definitely a labor of love. Cutting basal wood is not my favorite hobby. Do you still send Valentines?
