I wouldn’t say it’s a new trend. Some version of tribal influence, whether Aztec, Navajo or Southwestern has made it’s way onto the runways and design trends lookbooks year after year. But maybe I’m feeling a little bolder, because I am itching to add some tribal prints and patterns into my home. I love the juxtaposition of handmade craftsmanship and contemporary lines, ancient arts and modern graphics, bright color in contrasting tones and relaxed neutrals. And the details — beadwork, frayed edges, patchwork, embroidery, embellishments, etc. Every piece is surrounded by mystery and culture and will be sure to stir up conversations and compliments. I’m currently on the hunt for a dining room rug and I just may be going tribal.
