Is this arctic outbreak getting to anyone else? I’m freezing. Today I’m back with my “Uniform” series to share a favorite silhouette that will hopefully keep me warm these next couple of months. It all starts with a great coat, but that’s something I’ve found hard to invest in, considering I truly only need it for a small portion of the year. But, my college left-overs are no longer cutting it. It’s time for a grown-up coat. While black is probably the safest bet, I hate how they’re always showing lint and hair. So, recently I’ve fallen in love with the idea of grey outerwear. Grey is a perfect neutral and would make an ideal every day coat.

The great thing about a stunning coat is that you don’t have to think as much about what you’re wearing underneath. A simple sweater, button-down or sweatshirt will do. On the bottom, I’m sticking to mid-rise skinny jeans. Not only are they comfortable, but they can easily be dressed up or down – ankle boots for day, high-heel pumps for night. A simple color palette of black, grey, various blue washes and one good white is all you need. I still have some colored denim, but the neutrals are the ones I wear over and over again.

Lastly, add a cute winter accessory to for some practical style. A knit beanie gives you a dose of chic, while keeping you warm. Bonus: you can go an extra day or two without washing your hair. There’s a ton of fun options out there right now. And while I’d love a cashmere version, you can find one for under $10 if you know where to look.
