Over the past year I’ve been really attracted to simple jewelry. Dainty rings, necklaces and stud earrings are all I’ve been buying; and I find myself drawn over and over again to wearing the same basics. Of course, I still love my statement necklaces and a good arm party, but what I really prefer is a light-weight, dainty gold charm necklace and a basic pair of stud earrings. Today, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite dainty necklaces. If you’re looking for something specific, make sure to click through the links and search around on the websites. Many of these designers and online retailers have several beautiful options.
When looking for dainty jewelry you can find a wide range of prices. Many of these necklaces are made of solid 14k gold or gold-vermeil, which obviously increases the price. If you’re looking for less expensive options, you can opt for gold-plated or -dipped. These are much less expensive, but the gold is also more likely to wear off over time. Some great affordable option include this chevron necklace from Gorjana and any of these from Dogeared (I’ve shown the small infinity necklace here).
Many of these necklaces you can wear every day, especially the ones from Dana Rebecca Designs, Maya Brenner, Jennifer Meyer and Jennifer Zeuner (not pictured). Maya Brenner has become extremely popular with her asymmetrical mini letter necklaces. I’m receiving my ‘K’ necklace here shortly and can sure bet I’ll be wearing it all the time.
One of the most popular dainty necklaces has been the horizontal cross. If you’re looking for one in gold-vermeil, this option from Jennifer Zeuner is one of my favorites based on quality and price. She also has a mini version available at one of my favorite Northern Virginia / DC boutiques, South Moon Under. If you’re looking for something more casual and fun, Kris Nations’ Texas and United States necklaces are the perfect way to wear your pride. Looking for your own state, check out Maya Brenner’s state collection. She has them all!
My absolute favorite designer for dainty jewelry is Jennifer Meyer. She was recently recognized as one of the 2012 CFDA / Vogue Fashion Fund Finalists. This stick necklace is made of solid 18k gold and filled with diamond, so it’s not cheap, but it will definitely be something you have forever. Husband bought me the diamond stick ring for our 5 year wedding anniversary and I wear it every day. Literally, I don’t take it off.
What designers did I miss? I’d love to discover some new options!
