When temperatures start to drop below 50 degrees, I head into hibernation mode. I make sure my UGG slippers are always within reach, my pantry is fully stocked with hot chocolate mix and marshmallows, and that I have plenty of good reading available. (Sidebar: if anyone has any good book recommendations, please tweet me. I need some suggestions!) I also make sure that I have a soft, warm blanket that I can wrap up in on the couch. For the past few years I am embarrassed to say that this has been my Snuggie. Don’t judge until you’ve used one. But, I feel like it might be time to upgrade to a more decorative version.

Patterned throw blankets are a great way to bring warmth and style into your living or bed room. For winter, I’m always drawn to plaid alpaca blankets. It’s just a shame that they’re always so expensive. A great ikat or chevron print has also become a modern classic. This pom pom throw from Serena & Lily and this textured throw from Anthropologie are currently battling it out as my favorite. They’re understated and unique at that same time. But if you’re looking for a budget option, I’d choose this variegated stripe number for $24.99 or this black & white blanket for only $14.99.
