"candy corn" desserts


celebrate halloween this year with a nod to the king of halloween candy – candy corn.

candy corn-inspired cupcakes from i heart cuppy cakes

candy corn cupcakes recipe:

ingredients:
1 box of white cake mix
red coloring gel

yellow coloring gel
1 cup of butter
7-8 cupes of powdered sugar, sifted
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

instructions:
preheat oven to 350F
make cake batter as directed on box
divide batter in 2 bowls
color one orange (add red+yellow gel) and one yellow (add yellow gel)
starting with yellow batter, fill the cupcake liners 1/2 way. 1/2 yellow and then 1/2 orange
bake for 17-20 minutes
let completely cool
cup cupcake tops to level surface
for frosting, beat butter until creamy
add 5 cupes of sifted powdered sugar, milk and vanilla, beat until combined
add more powdered sugar until you get the right consistency
pipe buttercream icing ontop of cupcake

crispy rice candy corn treats from paula deen

crispy rice candy corn treats recipe:

ingredients:
4 tablespoons butter
1 (10 ounce) bag marshmallows
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
6 cups crispy rice cereal
1 cup rough chopped candy corns

instructions:

spray a 13×9 glass baking dish and rubber spatula with non stick spray

in a medium sized sauce pan over low heat, add butter to melt
once melted add marshmallows, salt, and vanilla
stir continuously until the marshmallows have reached a smooth consistency
remove from heat and fold in the cereal and candy corns until completely coated

add the mixture to the greased baking dish and smooth out evenly
allow to cool before cutting into squares.


candy corn parfait from let’s entertain

candy corn parfait recipe:


ingredients:
1 large orange
1-2 tablespoons orange liqueur
2 tablespoons lemon curd
1/4 cup whipped cream
1 tablespoon crushed shortbread cookies

instructions:
peel and segment orange with a paring knife
remove the membranes and white pith
chop the segments and toss the orange liqueur in a bowl
set aside for 10 minutes
spoon the lemon curd into a small parfait glass in an even layer
top with a thin layer of whipped cream
pile on the oranges and dollop with the remaining whipped cream
sprinkle with crushed shortbread cookies, if desired

*moderneve variation: use mandarin oranges and lemon jello*
