// Inspired Space: Home Office

I’ve almost been working from home for a year now and during that time I’ve been thinking a lot about my home office. I want to create a space that’s comfortable, uncluttered, yet creative. I need a room where I can plug away at the computer researching products for the blog, get inspired browsing Pinterest, analyze my accounting in Excel, and hammer through my inbox, but I also need a place where I can spread out and be messy. I need a place that’s visually appealing, yet organized. I need place that’s just me.

I’ve started working on adding furnishings, accessories and art to the space and hope to share the final reveal in the next couple months. By collecting pieces I love I’ve landed on a color palette of neutrals, metallics and lucite with a pop of pale mint grounded by an amazing over-dyed red rug. Honestly, it’s kinda random and a bit contradictory, and that’s why it works. It’s me.

I’ve already received some great items including my new desk chair from CB2. I looked far and wide for a modern chair on casters that wasn’t the typical white or black leather. I am so happy with my purchase. I also received this rug from Rugs USA. Truthfully, the photo does not do it justice. It’s the perfect blend of modern and sophistication without being overly contemporary or traditional – a balance I appreciate. New lighting is also a key factor for this room. I decided on the Blu Dot Stilt Floor Lamp and the Robert Abbey Delta Table Lamp (in Celadon), both from Lumens.com. I’m head over heels with both and I know I’ll keep them in my home forever, even if they move from my office.

I’m still finalizing some of the details with art, curtains, pillows, and accessories, but I love the direction I’m heading.
